Bicycle maintenance and repair
Learning to repair your own bike is challenging, empowering, and fun. Start small and low stakes—it's no fun to take half your bike apart and realize you don't have time to put it back together before your ride. If you expect to run into some roadblocks along the way you'll have an easier go of it. And if you do your tinkering during the hours your local bike shop is open, you'll be able to go by for help if you need it.
Check out our current Bike School course offerings, and stay tuned for tutorial videos where we'll show you how to start working on your own bike. In the meantime, check out the masters over at Park Tool's YouTube channel. They have videos on everything from fixing a flat tire to overhauling your fancy rear derailleur's clutch. Finally, it would be remiss not to mention the patron saint of bike mechanics, Sheldon Brown. This encyclopedic website is an unparalleled trove of knowledge.
